United Arab Emirates

In the United Arab Emirates, Islam influences everyday life. Christians are prohibited from living out their faith in public. They will also be punished if caught sharing the gospel with others.

Christians who are not citizens can be deported for evangelising and are limited in how they can worship as the government actively censors Christian content online. Despite the pressure, God is still moving and revealing Himself to people through dreams, visions and through His Word.

“We don’t really face persecution; we face misunderstanding.” – Anglican priest, Bill Schwartz.

The number of Christians in the Arabian Peninsula is increasing into the millions. Expatriate Christians experience a reasonable level of religious freedom, however, for those who leave Islam to follow Jesus, the situation is entirely different. They are often severely persecuted for their faith.
