Tunisia

Tunisian believers don’t have equal opportunities with the Muslim majority. The growing influence of Islamic extremism ideology has increased hostility towards Christians. Believers who are public about their faith in Jesus face job insecurity, are abandoned by their friends and family, and can be victims of abuse. Some converts from Islam have been locked in their homes by family members.

Story

“There might be freedom of religion, but the government tries to give Christians a hard time… A pastor living in the desert shared how his windows were broken almost weekly by his neighbours because he is a Christian.” – A pastor from Tunisia.

Despite the church in North Africa dating back to the first century AD, the church nearly disappeared after the rise of Islam. Only a few decades ago were new churches planted.

Our Work

Through our local partners, Open Doors is supporting the church in Tunisia through biblical training, literature distribution, providing people with job skills, socio-economic development and advocacy.

Pray for Tunisia

Pray for Christians to withstand the pressure to return to Islam.

Pray that the firm faith of believers will be a testimony of Jesus to the Muslim communities around them.
