Sudan is a staunchly Islamic country known for supporting Islamic extremist groups. President al-Bashir wants to establish an Islamic state and ensure that all citizens follow strict Sharia (Islamic) laws. Sudanese Christians face persecution daily. Churches are destroyed, church leaders are often arrested and falsely accused of crimes they did not commit, and there are extremely high levels of violence.

Seida is a widow in her 50s who faces pressure from her family to deny Jesus and return to Islam. Open Doors is working through local partners in Sudan to help widows like Seida with food, job skills and spiritual support.

Our Work

Through our local partners, Open Doors equips church leaders in Sudan for ministry, runs community development programs and provides practical support to Christians persecuted for their faith in Jesus.

Pray for Sudan

Pray for Christians in Sudan, that they can forgive those who wrongfully accuse them and that their example of God’s love will bring many to Christ.

Pray for President al-Bashir to come to know Jesus and that those in positions of power have a change of heart toward the church.

Pray for those who have left Islam to follow Jesus, that they will find a supportive church community.
