International Day Of Prayer
THE POWER OF PRAYER
When you pray...
The Church is strengthened.
Governments shift and conflicts cease.
Relationships are reconciled and healing is found.
There is power in your prayers to change the world.
Each year, we host the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church to stand alongside those who share our faith, but not our freedom.
This year, on Sunday 7 November, the global Church will unite as the one body of Christ to pray with persecuted Christians following Jesus in the most dangerous places.
Will you join Christians all over the world to pray with the persecuted church?
How It Works
1. Sign up via the form below to receive your free prayer resources. (If you are signing up on behalf of your church congregation, go here instead to get your church resources.)
2. Encourage others to join you in prayer on 7 November. You could even get a group together, online or in person, to pray.
3. On 7 November, take some time during the day to pray with the with the persecuted church and the New Zealand church.
When you sign up, you'll receive prayer points from the persecuted church. Use these to prompt your thinking, and pray for the other things God may put on your heart.
“If we understood the potential power of our prayers, we would be on our knees a hundred times a day asking God for things that would turn this world upside down.” –Brother Andrew, founder of Open Doors.
What is the International Day Of Prayer?
The International Day Of Prayer for the persecuted church is a day set aside for the persecuted church.. On the first Sunday of November, the global Church is encouraged to stop and pray with persecuted Christians who suffer for the sake of Christ.
This year, you can join us on 7 November by signing up above.
How do I participate in The International Day Of Prayer?
Simple - you pray! We'd encourage you to pray with the persecuted church throughout the year, but on 7 November the global Church is putting a specific focus on the persecuted church. Praying with the persecuted church can be a daunting task, so we have created a free prayer pack to give you a starting point. Use the form above to let us know you'll be praying with us, and to receive your prayer pack.
Why should I pray with the persecuted church?
We think the words of this Egyptian pastor answer this question best.
"Please do not pray for us. Please pray with us. If you pray for us, you will pray for the wrong things. You will pray that the church will be safe. You will pray for persecution to cease. We are not praying for these things. We ask that we will be bold and clear in sharing our faith. And we pray that when the inevitable persecution comes, that we will not run away, that we will be faithful in that persecution even if it costs us our lives. Will you tell your friends to pray these prayers with us?"
What resources will I get when I sign up?
When you join us for the International Day Of Prayer, we will equip you with a prayer guide. This guide is full of prayer points and stories from the persecuted church, helping you pray with our brothers and sisters. You can access this guide online, or order copies to be mailed to your address.
