Significant religious ordinances issued in the last three years have resulted in greater freedom for the Church. However, the government continues to monitor religious gatherings and interrogate church leaders, and churches must still register. The main source of persecution is local officials and community leaders, with Christians in the countryside experiencing more problems than those in urban areas.

Examples of Persecution:

• Authorities prevented public Easter celebrations in Hanoi last year, after giving a verbal promise to organisers that the events would proceed
• In November 2010, two Christian evangelists were sentenced to six and four years in prison for "undermining national unity."

Open Doors is: equipping and traning believers, providing Bibles and Childrens Bibles, assiting with socio-economic development, and advocating for Tribal believers
