United Arab Emirates

A federation of seven states formed in 1971, this is one of the most liberal countries in the Gulf. Around 80% of the population are foreign workers. The constitution provides for freedom of religion, although some restrictions are applied. Religious groups with dedicated religious buildings can worship together. Evangelising Muslims is strictly forbidden. The distribution of Christian literature is prohibited and religious websites are sometimes blocked.
