Egypt
The future of Egypt is politically unstable. Radical Islamic fundalmentalists are under the government's control but they still cause discrimination against Christians, especially Muslim background believers, in social and workplace situations. Strict government regulations hinder Christian church activities, but regulations have improved regarding efforts to renovate old church buildings. Nearly 100,00 Christians have emigrated since March 2011, due to escalating intimidation and attacks on Christians by Islamists. Due to more exposure of the Gospel through various nedia sources, the Church in Egypt is seeing a new openness to learning about Christ.
Examples of Persecution:
- In October 2011, a military attack against a group of Christian protestors left 26 dead and hundreds wounded.
- A Coptic Christian was killed and several others were injured after Muslims attacked a predominantly Christian village following an argument between a Muslimn and a Christian
Open Doors is: providing resources and training to empower local churches and pastors and supporting strategic ministry projects
