Cuba

The constiution in Cuba provides for religious freedom, but the government restricts this in practice. Churches must register, but there are currently many unregistered churches that have no legal status and experience harassment from authorities. Christians, and especially pastors, are sometimes pressured to stop evangelising and to limit their activities to their own church premises. There is an urgent need for leadership in the churches, as many fled or were expelled following the revolution. Permission for local printing of Christian literature is hard to obtain. Bibles, Bibel study materials and Sunday School resources are in extremely short supply, and growing numbers of unregistered house churches have no access to these materials, as Bibles are distributed onyl through offical channels.

Examples of Persecution:

  • In one area specifically meant for tourists, Christians are repeatedly told not to evangelise or do anything for youth, as it is considered to be "infiltration of the wrong idealogy."

Open Doors is: distributing Christian literature and media and praying for believers in the country

Please Pray:

  • For wisdom for pastors who are being monitored by the government
  • That that government would allow the construction of new church buildings
Praise God for the increase in number of children attending church activities
